Devendra Fadnavis steps down as Maharashtra CM saying that they have no enough numbers. This comes after Ajit Pawar resigned as deputy chief minister of Maharashtra. Earlier today, the Supreme Court had ordered a floor test on November 27 at 5pm.

Devendra Fadnavis, who was sworn in as the chief minister of Maharashtra on Saturday, stepped down from the post after ally Ajit Pawar submitted his resignation.

Pawar’s resignation came in just a few hours after the Supreme Court had ordered a floor test in the Maharashtra Assembly on November 27, in the presence of Protem Speaker.

Fadnavis addressed the media to say that the people had given the mandate to the BJP in the elections, but because the Shiv Sena was unable to agree upon a “few aspects”, they had to call it quits.

Fadnavis stated that while the President’s rule was ongoing in Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar had approached him with an alliance.

The two parties held talks and showed numbers before the Governor, and formed the government. Further attacking the Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena, Fadnavis stated that the parties have come together to keep the BJP away.

“They have come together as three different wheels and if they go in different directions, then I don't know what will happen,” stated Fadnavis.
Devendra Fadnavis added that they formed the government only because they had the numbers. He iterated that the BJP will not indulge in horse trading and “so, I will submit my resignation to the Governor.”

MLAs of NCP, Shiv Sena and Congress to hold a joint meeting at 5 pm today to elect the leader of their alliance. The combine had on Saturday night filed a petition seeking quashing of the Maharashtra governor's decision and demanded an immediate floor test to avoid "further horse trading".

The three parties also sought a direction to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to invite them to form government under the leadership of Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, saying they have the support of over 160 MLAs.
