Delhi police thrash Sarita Vihar shopkeeper in week's second cop atrocity

New Delhi: A shopkeeper has been brutally trashed by Delhi police officers in Sarita Vihar after he complained that the cops were asking money during a demolition drive there. 

This is the second incident of unjustified police thrashing after DCP Madhur Verma was accused of slapping an inspector for stopping his car. 

A video, that went viral on social media, showed that SHO Ajab Singh, along with two constables, went to the shopkeeper, identified as Kishan Bidhuri’s house and thrashed him. 

According to Delhi Police, a departmental inquiry has been initiated against the three accused. 

Bidhuri also complained that the SHO arrived at his house, the latter was in an abbreviated state. 

Following an initial investigation, the SHO, along with the other two accused, have been sent to police line until further inquiry.

On March 10, a traffic inspector Karamvir alleged that the problem started when DCP Verma's staff Rohit, who was driving his SUV on the wrong side, was intercepted by him. The Punjab-registered SUV had led to a major jam at a function where several judges had assembled. 

The inspector said Verma called him to the police station and abused him verbally and physically at Rohit's behest. The traffic inspector also alleged that Verma was in an inebriated state.
