Delhi Police have arrested a guest house owner for killing a minor, who refused molestation attempts. The minor was killed in front of her toddler sister.
New Delhi: A minor girl was strangled to death in Delhi after she allegedly refused a molestation attempt. According to reports, the minor was killed in front of her toddler sister.
The Delhi Police have reportedly arrested the accused and is awaiting for the autopsy report. The accused is identified to be a 22-year-old man.
Sources say the accused runs a guest house in the city and the minor's parent works in the same building. When parents were searching for the minor and her sister, they found the body of the minor and the sister on the ground floor of the building.
The parents rushed the minor to the nearby hospital, but she was declared dead. As the investigation started, the guest house residents were questioned. Many among them stated that the minor was last seen with the owner of the guest house.
Further, the police arrested the accused and the man is believed to have confessed to the killing. He stated that when the girl refused rape, he thought of leaving her. But he feared she would narrate the incident to her parents, and thus strangled to death. She was survived by her parents, three brothers and a sister.

Meanwhile, in a bid to combat the rising offenses on children, the Union Cabinet approved amendments to strengthen the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act by including death penalty for aggravated sexual assault on children, besides providing stringent punishment for other crimes against minors, officials said.
The proposed changes in the POCSO Act also provide for fines and imprisonment to curb child pornography.
