A basement flood in Rajendra Nagar claimed three lives, with intense rain causing a drain break. A distressing video shows rapid inundation and delayed rescue efforts.
In a devastating incident in Rajendra Nagar, the basement of a coaching center was inundated following intense rainfall in the capital city’s central region. The flood claimed the lives of three civil service aspirants: Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, Nivin Dalwin from Kerala, and Tanya Soni from Telangana.
Witnesses reported that a nearby drain broke, causing rapid flooding in the basement with 10 to 12 feet of water, leaving those trapped with no chance to escape.
A chilling video, recently shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a UPSC candidate, captures the harrowing scene. The footage shows water rushing into the basement, with people wading through knee-deep water. The caption reveals the survivor’s desperate call for help: “I’m one survivor of this horrible incident; within 10 minutes, the basement was filled.”
