300 Kashmiri doctors living abroad are providing free treatment to people 24 hours a day

Bengaluru: For the last 1 ½ years, India has been facing the wrath of the coronavirus. The second wave, which hit the country hard in the month of February, continues to wreak havoc.

India has been fighting the virus hard. There is perennial production of oxygen, as also the import of oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders and ventilators as well.

In the meantime, frontline healthcare workers are rendering yeoman service to the nation. Not just resident Indian doctors, but also those Indian doctors who are stay abroad and are hurt by what is happening to their nation.

Dainik Bhaskar reports that 300 Kashmiri doctors living abroad are providing free treatment to people 24 hours a day.

It adds that these doctors live in different countries like Saudi Arabia, Dubai, USA, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and have given free consultancy to more than 20,000 patients online since last July.

In the second wave of Covid, 500 people are taking advantage of it every day. These doctors are helping people day and night by connecting with the Eshta International NGO called Kashmir Healthcare Support Group, it notes further.

Dr Altaf, a senior cardiac anaesthesiologist serving in the Gulf, says, “Initially, only a few doctors were involved. Then the doctors serving in the bay joined. They say that it is not possible for patients to go to hospitals during the epidemic. In such a situation we provide medical advice, create awareness in patients and give e-prescription. A system has also been created to provide immediate help to serious patients. We keep a record of every patient, so that next time the patient will be consulted by the same doctor who saw him earlier. Most cases are related to covid, kidney, diabetes, blood pressure”.

In this way, doctors are doing their bit to ensure they are available to patients and mitigate the sufferings.
