The Delhi police have come up with an initiative to help senior citizens during the Covid crisis

New Delhi: With the increasing number in the covid virus cases, the country is indeed grappling with fear.

Many countries are sending in relief materials like Oxygen concentrators, cylinders among other things.

People too, are helping out each other in whatever way possible.

On the other hand, the Delhi police have come up with a unique concept called CoviVan.

As per the initiative, a van will be stationed. A police officer and a beat police officer would rush to the house of a senior citizen, to whom it is meant.

These officers will help the senior citizens in the procurement of their daily needs, essentials and medical needs.

The service just doesn’t end here. The police officers will also help the senior citizens to get vaccination on time.

This will go a long way in dealing with the issue. At the same time, precautions like social distancing, wearing of masks will also be followed meticulously.

"Senior citizens can use this facility for going to vaccination centers, hospitals & other places. We want them to use our well-sanitized van," says SHO Ritesh Kumar, as quoted by ANI.

“We've shared numbers to all senior citizens via beat officers & announcement vehicle in the locality. After calling on the numbers within five minutes our COVI-VAN & beat officer will reach to assist senior citizens: Ritesh Kumar, SHO Greater Kailash Police Station, Delhi, was quoted by ANI.
