In a significant milestone, India has inoculated more than a crore people falling in the age group of 18-44

Bengaluru: As India fights the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic, it continues to inoculate its citizens.

As it does, it has crossed a significant milestone. The country has administered more than 1 crore vaccine doses for 18-44 age group under phase-3 of the vaccination drive.

The drive to jab those in the age group of 18-44 was started on May 1. But it ran into rough weather as the supplies of the vaccines were quite irregular. In spite of this hurdle, the country has touched the 1-crore mark.

It is to be noted that vaccination is an integral pillar of the comprehensive strategy of government of India for containment and management of the pandemic, along with Test, Track, Treat and covid-appropriate behaviour.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country exceeded 19.60 crore today under the phase-3 of the nationwide vaccination drive.

As per a statement from the ministry of health and family welfare, a total of 19,60,51,962 vaccine doses have been administered through 28,16,725 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today (May 24).

In a recently held presser, health minister Harsh Vardhan said India would inoculate all of its adult citizens by the end of 2021.

For this purpose, India is also procuring 216 crore doses.

India’s daily recoveries continue
