IT companies in India are offering additional paid leaves to employees, and at the same time, have expanded covid care facilities

Bengaluru: India is fighting the second wave of coronavirus on a war- footing. It is importing oxygen from several countries, as also trying its best to improve medical infrastructure.

The entire nation is fighting the pandemic as one. While the armed forces and the railways are also playing their part to perfection, now corporate companies have jumped in.

Infosys, as reported by Times Now, has extended paid leaves by 21 days to those who have been affected by the virus or are recovering from the same.

The website adds that it has set up two covid care centres in Pune and Bengaluru and the cost of the covid-related treatment is covered under group insurance.

“Infosys has also tied-up with testing labs. It has collaborated with emergency ambulance providers in major cities, and partnered with 1,490 hospitals, in 242 cities in India, to enable treatment for its employees and their family members,” the Times of India quoted the company as saying in a report.

Capgemini India will cover the treatment costs of the patients under company medical insurance if they require home care facilities.

The website added that Wipro last week organised a vaccination camp at its Electronics City campus for Bengaluru-based employees. “We are facilitating complimentary pre- and post-vaccination support as well as vaccination reimbursement for our employees and their spouses. We have also launched the nurturing wellness platform, which offers doctors, nutritionists, health coaches, virtual consultations, and 24x7 emergency care experts,” the publication quoted Wipro as saying.

Cognizant, on the other hand, has made a special provision for insurance to cover Covid treatment at home.
