PM Narendra Modi has declared that India would be under lockdown for 21 days starting midnight and announced a Rs 15,000 cr package for medical infrastructure

Bengaluru: Tough times call for tough measures. Prime Minister Narendra Mod, in an unprecedented move, has declared that Indian would be under complete lockdown starting midnight for a period of 21 days.

That means, the nation will come to a grinding halt till the 14th of April.

With folded hands, the Prime Minister urged and emphasised that every Indian should remain confined within the four walls of their house, as movement on roads and thoroughfares is an open invitation for the coronavirus to spread.

At the same time, he urged the state governments to focus their attention to implement the lockdown.

He even asked his countrymen to draw a Lakshman Rekha around their house and restrict themselves.

He even expanded the ‘Corona’ as Koi Road Na Nikle which means “don’t venture out of the house”.

We must all also tell you that the Centre today allocated a humongous sum of Rs 15,000 crore to boost medical infrastructure across the country.

Taking the examples of other countries like Italy and Iran which have seen an exponential rise in the number of deaths, he drove home the point that a country as big as India could face disastrous consequences if no preventive measures are taken.

He said, “I am certain that every citizen will not only face this crisis together but also emerge out of it successfully.”

On the importance of the 21-day lockout, he said, “If you don’t stay indoors for 21 days, you will be putting everyone in your family at risk and will go back by 21 years.”

The PM also urged the people to pray for the police personnel.

He said, “Think and pray for the police personnel who are on duty 24x7 to keep you and your families safe.”

This move comes 2 days after Janata curfew from 7 am to 9 pm on March 22.
