Former BSF jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav has said that he will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Yadav on friday said he will be contesting from Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

New Delhi: After being sacked from service for complaining about bad food, former BSF jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav has said that he will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Yadav on friday said he will be contesting from Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A resident of Rewari Haryana, Yadav claimed that he was approached by many parties to join them but he has chosen to contest as an independent candidate. By contesting in the elections, he wants to bring to the forefront the matter of corruption in the armed forces.

He said, "My motive is not to win or lose. It is to highlight how this government has failed the forces, especially paramilitary forces. PM Modi seeks votes in the name of our jawans but has done nothing for them. Our paramilitary jawans (CRPF men) killed recently in Pulwama were not even given martyr status by this government".

Tej Bahadur Yadav has challenged his dismissal in court and the case is in the trial stage. He was dismissed in 2017, after he took to social media to complain about the quality of food being served in Jammu and Kashmir.

"My dismissal was completely wrong. They claimed I am being removed for indiscipline. At least the government could have bothered to address the corruption issue I had raised. Its actions to suppress my voice only shows this government is a party to large scale corruption in the forces,” Yadav said.

Yadav said his campaign in Varanasi will include ex-servicemen and farmers. He said the campaign strategy is to target maximum number of voters.
