Bengaluru: Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union budget on two days ago.

Now, Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan says that it envisages several initiatives and areas of focus, aimed at enhancing India's overall competitiveness and manufacturing capacities, which would enable growth, diversification and technological enhancement of India's exports.

The budget focuses on the creation of a robust infrastructure, logistics and utilities environment for the manufacturing sector.

Infrastructure schemes include Mega Investment Textiles Parks (MITRA), which will create world class infrastructure with plug and play facilities to enable the creation of global champions in the sector, benefiting from economies of scale and agglomeration. Seven Textile Parks will be established over three years.

Atmanirbhar Bharat:

Atmanirbhar Bharat or self-reliant India envisages a country that gives more importance to indigenous ideas. It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s brainchild. The scheme gives more hopes, opportunities and fillip to local talents.

At the same time, PM Modi also made it clear that the scheme is not tantamount to saying that India becomes an inward-looking country, sidelining and insulating itself from the rest of the world.

Much contrary to it, India should become a manufacturing hub for the entire nation.

And true to it, India has become a robust producer of vaccine as the world looks towards it for the panacea.

Till now, India has exported lakhs and lakhs of vaccine to several countries, including Pakistan.

It is also to be noted that India, while exporting vaccines, has not let its own citizens down.

It became the first country to vaccinate 4 million people in just 18 days.

Not just that, India is also hopeful of producing a third vaccine CovoVax by June.

The concept of Atmanirbharta is to empower and provide more opportunities to local people, as it gives them more confidence in their own abilities.
