New Delhi: Once again a hashtag for boycotting Chinese products is going viral, but it is certainly not a practical idea at least in the short term. From Indian kitchens and drawing rooms to Indian Army equipment, Chinese products are everywhere. These products have become a part of every Indian's life. Almost all mobile phones, including IPhones, have a China link. Here are some Chinese products that Indians use in their daily lives:
Companies like Gionee, Huawei, Lenovo, Oppo, Oneplus and Xiaomi are Chinese companies. They control more than 70% of the total mobile market in India. Every family must have a member who uses a Chinese phone. Not only in towns, Chinese phones, due to its low price, have a market in Indian villages too.
Delhi's main toy market in Karol Bagh is running mainly on Chinese products. This market not only deals with customers from the capital, but also export their products to other states. Sellers in Karol Bagh claim that almost every toy which is not branded is from China. Also, China prints the maximum retail price largely in Indian rupee in order to save custom duties. The MRP of China-made toys are usually between Rs 15 and 100.
Chinese active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are manufactured in China and are present in almost all medicines. The purpose of API is to produce the intended therapeutic effect on a patient when the drug is consumed. India imports 84% of APIs and 65% of the total imports are from China alone. It would be hard for Indian pharmaceutical companies to work without the Chinese touch.
According to a report, the India Army gets bullet-proof jackets made from Chinese material. Around 40% of every such jacket is made from Chinese material. According to a recent tender, 1,80,000 jackets will be made out of Chinese material as the company that has won the tender will import raw material from China.

China, on Wednesday, blocked India's bid to list Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Maulana Masood Azhar as a 'global terrorist'. It was the fourth time that China had scuttled India and the world community's efforts in this matter. Azhar is the mastermind of the attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama on February 14 that led to the death of over 40 jawans.
