Caesar Sengupta all set to log in as Google's India, Southeast Asia head

Caesar Sengupta will replace Rajan Anandan as Google's vice president for Southeast Asia (SEA) and India. Sengupta currently leads ‘Next Billion Users’, Google's most ambitious project.

New Delhi: Caesar Sengupta will be Google's next vice president for Southeast Asia (SEA) and India. Sengupta will step in Rajan Anandan’s place who will quit Google by the end of April this year. Anandan will now head Singapore-based Sequoia Capital India operation as Managing director.

Sengupta currently leads ‘Next Billion Users’, the technology giant’s most important and ambitious project. Meanwhile, in the interim period, Vikas Agnihotri, the country director for sales, will fill the void.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Anandan said, “8 amazing years. 850 million internet users across India and SEA. Many billions of revenue and the fastest-growing region in the world. Incredible team that thinks big and executes superbly. Thank you @GoogleIndia #GoogleSEA. Loved every minute.”

Meanwhile, Caeser tweeted, "Congrats @RajanAnandan I will miss working with you every day at @GoogleIndia but really excited to see this next chapter in your life and wish you all the best. I'm sure we'll continue to find ways to work together."

Caesar has more than 15 years of expertise in developing consumer and enterprise technology based products. Before joining Google, he held engineering and research positions at Encentuate Inc. which is a Singapore based startup and Hewlett Packard Labs in Palo Alto. He holds as much as 15 patents in Operating Systems design and Expert Finding Systems.

This MBA graduate from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania is described in Crunchbase as someone who “runs both product and engineering teams for Google’s payments solutions such as Google Pay and Tez, our India-first payments app."
