After a woman put out a tweet, seeking help for her father, the UP government swung into action, alleviating her misery

Bengaluru: Politics is one of the ways to help citizens. After all, politicians are in the best position to extend a helping hand to the people.

Uttar Pradesh government, under Yogi Adityanath, has done precisely just that!

On the evening of December 1, a woman tweeted to former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav about how her father was in distress.

He had met with an accident.

“In your Saifai, there is no way to arrange for medical assistance. My father met with an accident and his condition has been deteriorating. We are finally leaving for Agra. His condition is so critical that doctors have given up. We hope to get some financial assistance from you,” was what she tweeted.

Akhilesh Yadava was born in Safai and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav is the MP from Manipuri, under which Safai falls.

Though it was tweeted to Akhilesh Yadav, the media advisor to Yogi Adityanath Shalabh Mani Tripathi took note of her distress call and arranged for medical care.

आपसे वार्ता के बाद ज़िलाधिकारी श्री को जानकारी दे गई है, वे यथासंभव आपकी मदद करेंगे,हम सबकी कामना है कि आपके पिताजी शीघ्र स्वस्थ हों। https://t.co/u0W6H00E5i

This is also an example of how technology can be used to seek help by those in distress as well as those who intend to help them.

It is to be noted further that several twitter users have used the platform to educate others on the plight and privations of several people (plant sellers, street vendors). It is further important to note that people, after reading the SoS messages on twitter, have graciously come forward to help the needy and the necessitous.
