BSF apprehends two cattle smugglers with six cattle along Indo-Bangladesh border

A top official of BSF said that, in different operations, troops of the Border Security Force of Guwahati Frontier apprehended two Indian cattle smugglers along with six cattle heads on the intervening night of May 12 and May 13

Guwahati: The Border Security Force (BSF) troops apprehended two cattle smugglers along with six cattle in Assam's South Salmara Mankachar and West Bengal's Cooch Behar districts along the Indo-Bangladesh border on Monday. 

A top official of BSF said that, in different operations, troops of the Border Security Force of Guwahati Frontier apprehended two Indian cattle smugglers along with six cattle heads on the intervening night of May 12 and May 13, from bordering areas of Ashmeralga in South Salmara Mankachar district and Sitai area in West Bengal's Cooch Behar district. 

Acting on a tip-off, on May 12, a specialized ambush of BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Ashmeralga apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler from the Border Out Post of Ashmeralga, while he was trying to smuggle the cattle from India to Bangladesh.                

The apprehended cattle smuggler was identified as 33-year-old Mazumil Hoque. The BSF troops handed him over to Kharuabanda police for further legal action.

On the other hand, acting on a tip-off, BSF troops apprehended another Indian cattle smuggler along with six cattle from the Border Out Post of Sitai, while he was trying to smuggle the cattle from India to Bangladesh. The apprehended cattle smuggler was identified as 37-year-old Ram Kishan Jana. 

The BSF troop handed him over to Sitai police for further legal action.

BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier seized 75 cattle heads approximately valued at Rs 9,63,225 on the intervening night of May 12 and 13.

BSF troops apprehended the miscreants after they had increased awareness towards trans-border crimes and illegal infiltration issues. All efforts to contain trans-border crimes have been undertaken by the BSF, especially along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
