Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress leaders said that they have the support of more than 162 MLAs. They made all the MLAs present take oath against helping the BJP. BJP slammed the so-called show of strength and called it an act of insecurity.

Mumbai: Though the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress said that they have the support of 162 MLAs at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai, BJP termed the act of the leaders a display of “insecurity”.

Speaking to MyNation, BJP national spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said: "The show of strength is proof that they are insecure. They are seeking oaths from their own MLAs and the BJP feels that there is lack of leadership among them and there is also a trust deficit. They are acting so out of guilt and it is clearly visible."

"Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress should actually explain how the numbers are more as we don’t see any actual parade of the MLAs. It is actually a hogwash more than a parade, more of a flop show where they look like party cadres instead of MLAs," he added.

MLAs were made to take oath keeping the Constitution as their witness stating “I will not fall prey to any offer. We have to fight the BJP. We will not help the BJP in any way”.

Congress leader Ashok Chavan said, “The government formed on November 23 is a minority government and that will be proved in the floor of the house”.

"We live by Satyameva Jayate. We are friends, we are together and strong. I dare anyone to try and break our party. If you try and break our party, wait and watch," said Uddhav Thackeray.

"We have not come together to bring down anyone. It is Shivaji's Maharashtra. We walk in the path of Shivaji," Thackeray added.

"162 MLAs are here. We are here to work in the interest of people of Maharashtra. Current government has power, but they do not have majority. We have the majority and we will install the government," said NCP chief Sharad Pawar.

"There are 162 MLAs here and we are way past majority. the next government will be ours," said Congress leader Ashok Chavan.

MLAs arrived in buses from various hotels in Mumbai to Grand Hyatt.

Mallikarjun Kharge of Congress was also in attendance.

Earlier, Shiv Sena MP, Sanjay Raut had said that the alliance will parade 162 MLAs to show their strength.

He also said that the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress have allegedly submitted the signatures of 162 MLAs to the Governor to claim stake to form government.

Meanwhile, the BJP has claimed the support of 170 MLAs with the support of NCP. Advocate Maninder Singh, appearing for NCP's Ajit Pawar, said that his list is “legally and constitutionally correct”

The petition of the alliance on Governor's action of revoking President's Rule at 5:47 am in the morning and formation of government by 8am will be taken up for hearing by the Supreme Court tomorrow (November 26).
