Just hours after the video of Siddaramaiah taking a dig at people wearing tilak surfaced, people have tweeted selfies wearing the tilak
New Delhi: Hours after the video of former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah taking a jibe at the radical right, went viral, several people are tweeting selfies wearing the ‘tilak’.
Siddaramaiah, who was at an event to inaugurate the rejuvenation of a lake in Bagalkote's Badami in Karnataka, said that he was "scared of people who wear tilaks".
Reacting to Siddaramaiah's statement, Chikkamagaluru BJP MLA CT Ravi accused the former chief minister of hating the Hindu community.
CT Ravi tweeted several images of Siddaramaiah wearing the tilak and said, "Congress leader Siddaramaiah says he is scared of people wearing the tilak. Do you hate Hindus so much Siddaramaiah avare?"
BJP national spokesperson Tajinder Bagga went a step forward and began the #SelfieWithTilak trend.
"I am tweeting my picture with the tilak to protest against anti-Hindu/anti-Indian culture CM Siddaramaiah. I request everyone to tweet your pic/selfie with tilak, tag Siddaramaiah with hashtag #SelfieWithTilak (SIC)," Tajinder Bagga said, in his tweet.

finally in a trend👻😍 pic.twitter.com/aMFvd9t3J9
The trend comes at a time when Siddaramaiah saw a man wearing tilak at the event. The man was a contractor and Siddaramaiah asked him if he would complete the work on time.
Siddaramaiah then turned to a fellow Congressman and chuckled that he was scared of people, who wear the tilak on their forehead.
The BJP slammed the statement and party spokesperson Vaman Acharya said that naturally those who support anti-national groups will be scared of nationalists.
Siddaramaiah's comments come just a day after Congress leader Belur Gopalkrishna had openly challenged people to kill the Prime Minister. The video of his provocation had gone viral too and the Karnataka state BJP unit has sought legal action against him.
