The suspense over naming a candidate for Bengaluru South continues with reports coming in that RSS sympathiser Tejaswi Surya could be fielded in an obvious attempt to thwart any allegations of dynasty politics against Narendra Modi

Bengaluru: The issue of deciding a candidate for Lok Sabha polls to Bangaluru South is getting more and more tricky for the BJP.

While it was decided that Ananth Kumar's wife Tejaswini would be fielded, now, if sources are to be believed, Tejaswi Surya, an RSS sympathiser, is being considered.

Sources say that by fielding Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, Modi would lose the advantage that he and his party do not support dynasty politics. In fact, this issue is the main tool BJP uses to corner Congress and the JD(S), especially Sonia Gandhi and HD Deve Gowda respectively. Keeping this in mind, sources say both Modi and Amit Shah are zeroing in on Tejaswi Surya.

However, there are unconfirmed reports that Narendra Modi might himself contest from this constituency. In fact, if sources are to be believed, Modi will be flying to Bengaluru late Sunday night or early Monday morning to file his nominations. Sources further say that the National College ground in Basavanagudi is being converted into a helipad to receive Modi. The same ground will host him for a rally the same evening.

BJP was all set to issue a ticket to Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, but what triggered a sudden and probable change is the alleged letter shot off by state Congress president Dinesh Gundu Rao to Rahul Gandhi, asking him to contest from Bangaluru South.

On the Congress’s front, BK Hariprasad has been given a ticket. However if Modi contests, there are reports that Congress might field DK Shivakumar.
