Robert Vadra scams have resurfaced after the issue was brought up in Parliament during the Zero Hour by BJP member Nishikant Dubey, who has sought a thorough investigation into the case.
New Delhi: BJP member Nishikant Dubey urged the government to investigate the alleged link between arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari and Robert Vadra.
The matter was raised during the Zero Hour wherein Dubey from the BJP stated that the government must also look into who the beneficiaries of the Pilatus aircraft purchase deal were.
Bhandari was allegedly involved in multiple defence deals during the UPA regime and also allegedly received kickbacks in the Pilatus defence deal through shell companies to buy benami properties in London.
Nishikant Dubey alleged that the various benami properties in London are owned by none other than Robert Vadra himself. He further alleged that flight tickets of Emirates Airlines were arranged by Bhandari for Vadra.
Soon after this, there was an uproar from the Congress’s side on the mention of Vadra’s name. The Speaker intervened and ruled that the name will not go on record in Lok Sabha proceedings.
Dubey urged the government to make a thorough investigation with regard to connection between Vadra and Bhandari and identify the actual owner of the benami properties in London, Bikaner and Faridabad.
He also asked the government to bring to book officials of the Defence Ministry and others part of the deal.
The Enforcement Directorate, which is separately filing a money laundering case related to the purchase of 75 Pilatus aircraft by the UPA government in 2009-10, has claimed to have tracked kickbacks of Rs 310 crore allegedly paid to Bhandari for swinging the Rs 2,900 crore deal.
After the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal, this is the second big defence contract signed by the UPA government which is being probed by the ED and the CBI.
