Shiva Sena employing the services of lawyer Kapil Sibal in the Maharashtra government formation in the top court has drawn criticism. The BJP has alleged that the Shiva Sena is no more a party of Hindus.

Bengaluru: The matter related to Maharashtra government formation is sub-judice. The top court will pronounce its verdict on the issue on Tuesday (November 26). While there are speculations on what the top court might say, let’s take our focus away from the verdict-related theories and concentrate on Shiva Sena and the counsel it hired to represent it in the top court.

As simple as it gets, the very cause of Shiva Sena’s existence is Hindutva. Its founding father Bal Thackeray had Hindutva and Marathi pride as the foundations.

Now, Kapil Sibal, who is representing Shiva Sena in the top court is someone who is known for his anti-Hindutva stance.

When the apex court wanted to hear the case on a day-to-day basis, Kapil Sibal, as reported by India Today opposed it by saying, “The hearing should be put off till July 2019. This judgment is going to have huge political ramifications. Hearing was suddenly expedited on the request of a person who is not even a party to the case. A party is pushing its manifesto. The court should not fall into a trap. This is nothing but a trap.”

Well, on the other hand, Uddhav Thackeray, the present chief of Shiva Sena has always supported the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Look at this irony! A party which has firmly established itself in Hindutva roots seeks and employs the services of Kapil Sibal who was not in support of a speedy trial of the Ram temple.

Go Madhusudhan, a spokesperson of the BJP says, “Shiva Sena is no more a Hindu party and Shiva Sena has dumped Shivaji. Now Shiva Sena has embraced Afzal Khan. So naturally, Shiva Sena has become a follower of Afzal Khan. In the last 2 days, Uddhav Thackeray has not been wearing the saffron shawl. When they are a party of Afzal khan, it is natural for them to approach Kapil Sibal who is a known Hindu baiter.”

Today (November 25) an interesting observation regarding the counsels employed by the Shiva Sena and the NCP was made by Tushar Mehta, the solicitor general. He said, “The three parties can’t even agree to field a common counsel.”

It was an apparent dig at the Congress-Sena-NCP for employing Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Singhvi.
