Bengaluru: Deputy chief minister G Parameshwara was in the eye of a storm as he allegedly instructed his officials to issue a notice to a shopkeeper who had hoisted a BJP flag at his shop in Tovinakere, Koratagere Taluk, Tumakuru.
It is said the deputy chief minister was present in the area to attend a meet when he passed by a grocery shop owned by KV Ravi.
After Ravi got the notice from officials, he was shocked. The report stated that permission had to be sought from the gram panchayat, which had not been done.
But on Sunday, the deputy chief minister went on to negate reports of his instructing officials to issue a notice.
Though the deputy CM went on to say he had not done it, the BJP sees a reflection of the fascist-like situation prevalent in West Bengal, in Karnataka.
“Their ego is hurt. It is nothing but desperation. It is this desperation that is making them (JDS and Congress) do something like this. It is the panchayat development officer who issued a notice to the shopkeeper. How will he issue a notice without the higher ups instructing him to do so? It is unfortunate. We see that an environment of hate and intolerance is raising its ugly head in the state, just like it is prevalent in West Bengal,” says Shreenath Sheshadri, a BJP spokesperson.
