Ministry of defence has authorised the director general of the Armed Forces Medical Services to hire 400 retired military doctors
Bengaluru: At a time when India fights the second wave of coronavirus on a war- footing, several organisations have come forward to do their bit to alleviate the suffering.
Now, as per news reports, the ministry of defence has asked the director general of the Armed Forces Medical Services to hire 400 retired military doctors.
These doctors will give their services in the treatment of covid patients.
“As per the order issued, 400 ex-Army Medical Corps and Short-Service Commission medical officers, who retired or were released between 2017 and 2021, are expected to be recruited on a contract basis for a maximum period of 11 months,” said an official.
Times of India noted that they will be paid a fixed monthly lump sum amount, which will be calculated by deducting the basic pension from the salary drawn at the time of their retirement.
It is not just the defence ministry that is taking such measures, even the Indian Railways, air force, DRDO and NHAI have contributed to the amelioration of the situation.
NHAI has come forward to build 500 oxygen plants across India.
This will be taken up on a war- footing. Reports also add that the body has decided to waive off toll fee as tankers pass through national highways.
Road minister Nitin Gadkari said, "Our engineers will work with the doctors to ensure oxygen supply to the needy patients. Like record speed in roads, we will construct infrastructure at record speed to save the life of every citizen."
DRDO pitches in to build hospitals:
The DRDO built hospitals having the capacity to house several beds in Lucknow.
It has also used oxygen producing ability that is used in LCA called the OnBoard Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS).
It is an indigenously built technology (specifically for India-manufactured aircract) used to supply oxygen to the aircrew by supplying oxygen using bleed air from the engine and separating oxygen from other components, using a process called Pressure Swing Adsorption Technology.
It is in this way that the country is fighting the demon in whatever way possible and puts up a brave front as one single entity.
