The UP police have acted on 7681 cases related to social media posts concerning the Ayodhya verdict
Bengaluru: In just two days of the all-important verdict on the controversial Ayodhya issue by the top court, the Uttar Pradesh police have acted on 7681 cases related to social media posts.
In all these cases, the police have asked the users to delete incendiary remarks or have apprised the relevant platforms about the users.
The strict policing comes in the wake of the chief justice of India Ranjan Gogoi speaking to authorities in the state on the issue of security.
The police are using a software called Sentiment Analysis to study the behaviour of unscrupulous elements by identifying keywords such as Ayodhya.

Once these messages are flagged, with the help of the IP address, the user is tracked down and punitive action, if necessary is taken.
When reports last came in, 90 users had been arrested in this connexion.
No less a person that the prime minister himself had appealed to the general public not to view the verdict as a victory or loss, rather just accept whatever the SC decreed.
What the supreme court said
After a marathon hearing that went on perennially for well over 40 days, the five-judge bench, headed by the CJI himself, held that the disputed land of 2.77 acres be given to Hindus. And in a bid to counterbalance it, the court has also asked the centre to award 5 acres of land to Muslims in Ayodhya itself.
The court has also asked the centre to form a board of trustees in three months to oversee the Ram temple building plans.
At the same time, the court also held the acts of placing Ram Lalla idols in the mosque in the year 1949 and felling of the Babri Masjid in 1992 as unconstitutional.
As regards the handing over land to Muslims, the Sunni Waqf Board will take a call on it by November 26.
