"The verdict should not be seen as victory or defeat of one or the other, it is a verdict in favour of the nation. Everybody should respect it," the ascetics said.
"We met the NSA to discuss the need for maintaining peace in the country. We will continue to work for it," Parmatmanand said.

On Saturday (November 9) the supreme court awarded the disputed land of 2.77 acres to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas while it asked the centre to form a board of trustees in three months to build a Ram temple.

The court also asked the centre to grant 5 acres of land to the Sunni Waqf Board in Ayodhya itself.

Before the pronouncement of the verdict, the court heard both the sides for 40 days on a continuous basis. The 5-bench judge, headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi, had others judges like CJI-designate Sharad Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and Naseer.

The CJI had also met top bureaucrats of Uttar Pradesh for assessing the security measures taken to thwart any attempts to disturb peace in the society.
The Prime Minister too had appealed for peace, asking everyone to not look at the verdict as a victory or loss. After the verdict was pronounced, he said India is a place where fear, hatred and bitterness had no place.

Other national leaders like former PM HD Devegowda too expressed their happiness that the court had given a nuanced verdict, keeping in mind the sentiments of people on all sides.

The verdict also brings curtains down on the centuries-old fight for temple and mosque.
