A stone from Sita Eliya, the place where mother Sita is believed to be held captive, will be sent to Ram Mandir construction site in Ayodhya
Bengaluru: The construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya is going on in full swing.
Now news reports state that a stone from Sita Eliya, will be sent to the temple site.
What is Sita Eliya and its significance?
Sita Eliya is the place where mother Sita is believed to be held captive. To mark the captivity, there is also a temple at the place.
It is also in this place that mother Sita prayed to Lord Rama to help rescue her.
The stone will be brought to the temple site through Sri Lankan High Commissioner-designate to India Milinda Moragoda.
Ayodhya land awarded to Hindus:
It was in November 2019 that the Supreme Court of India handed over the land to Hindus. The court also asked the centre to form a trust to oversee the construction of the temple.
It was in August last year (on the 5th) that Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the bhumi pujan of the temple to mark the construction of the temple.
A little later, the trust formed to oversee the construction of the temple informed that the temple construction would begin soon and it would get completed in 36-40 months.
Fund collection drive:
In the month of January, a fund collection drive for the construction of the temple began.
The estimate to build the Ram temple was pegged at Rs 1,100 crore. But through the collection drive, a sum of Rs 2,500 crore was collected.
A note on construction:
The temple which will be constructed will consist of two floors comprising of Sompura Marbles - spanning 161ft in length, 140ft in width, and 128 ft in height, having 5 domes.
The trust has estimated that construction of the temple will be completed in 3-3.5 years i.e by 2023, Republic TV notes.
