PFI which plans to hold protests against the implementation of CAA, NRC and NPR on January 5 in Murshidabad has been denied permission by the WB police.
Bengaluru: The Popular Front of India (PFI) which intends to hold a rally in Murshidabad, West Bengal on January 5 has got a shock as the West Bengal police have denied permission to it.
Interestingly, the organisation has extended an invite to Trinamool Congress MP TMC MP Abu Taher Khan as well. Pamphlets distributed by PFI have mentioned his name as well, but sources say that he is yet undecided on the matter.
What’s interesting is that the Uttar Pradesh government, headed by CM Yogi Adityanath, has written to the Union home ministry about proscribing the PFI. The home ministry is soliciting some legal opinions on the issue.
In a related development, Uttar Pradesh's Minority Minister Mohsin Raza on Wednesday accused PFI of misleading the Muslim youths and spreading Islamic extremism in the country. He also called PFI a front for the banned group SIMI and claimed that the organisation received its funding from Pakistan's intelligence wing ISI, as quoted by Zee News.
He further alleged that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, which supports organisations like PFI, too get their funding from ISI. "When Pakistan Zindabad slogans were raised in Lucknow, member of the "tukde-tukde" gang Umar Khalid was also there," Raza said, as quoted by Zee News.
The protests that the PFI has planned are to send strong signals to the Modi-led Union government that the implementation of the CAA or NRC or NPR is against the secular ethos of the country.
However, it fails to understand that the CAA has been passed, only to pave way for the persecuted minorities of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan to integrate with India socially and emotionally.
A lot of misinformation is being spread about the new law. While some say that CAA excludes Indian citizens, in reality, the law doesn’t apply to any Indian citizen at all.
