Expressing his support for Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, Kejriwal said he hoped the people of the state would teach PM Modi a lesson in the Lok Sabha poll.

New Delhi: Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) president Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the Election Commission (EC) is ‘biased’ and added that he strongly condemned the attitude of the EC, during his election rally in Moga, Punjab, on Thursday (May 16).

After the poll panel invoked article 324 in West Bengal following repeated instances of violence, Kejriwal asked why campaigning must be stopped in Bengal after 10 PM on Thursday, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rallies, a day before the original schedule.

"We strongly condemn the attitude of the Election Commission. Why was the campaign ordered to be stopped after Modiji's rallies. We have never seen this biased EC in the history of the country," Kejriwal said.

Also expressing his support for Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, Kejriwal said he hoped the people of the state would teach PM Modi a lesson in the Lok Sabha poll.

Meanwhile, volunteers of AAP participated in a rally held at New Delhi's Chittaranjan Park protesting against the violence in Bengal mainly between BJP and TMC workers.

Saurabh Bharadwaj, the AAP spokesperson, said, "What is happening in West Bengal is extremely serious and shows our democracy is in danger."

"It is extremely shameful. The bust of one of the greatest social reformers Shri Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagarji was destroyed. There is video evidence that the BJP was behind this shameful act. All of us need to stand in solidarity with Mamata Banerjee and the people of West Bengal," he added.
