Heaping praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah categorically stated that it was the Prime Minister who took the brave decision of invalidating Articles 35A and 370
Bengaluru: The Articles 370 and 35A giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir stand null and void.
But it was the Modi government which took the ultimate call on it on August 5.
While many say Union home minister Amit Shah was the brain behind it, he himself spilled the beans today saying, it was the Prime Minister who took the final call on the issue.
He said, “When it comes to 370 and 35 A, my party members and all others agreed that we used to talk on it but how would scrap it? And many others thought that it should be scrapped but they seemed helpless. On August 5, when the parliament session was held and the Prime Minister took a decision that the country wants to get rid of 370 and 35A. And we want to fulfil this dream of unbroken India. And today, we are getting rid of this too. I want to tell you one thing, from August 5 to September 17, not a single bullet was fired in Kashmir. And no single person was killed. Kashmir is absolutely peaceful."
A cabinet meet was held at 5 in the morning of that day when the PM took this historic decision.

The home minister also took a dig at Rahul Gandhi for his views on the matter.
"No one had the courage to remove Article 370. You people chose Modi Ji and in the first few days of his second term, he removed Article 370. Except for Modi Ji, no one can take such a daring decision. People have ruled the nation for 3 generations but could not remove it. Congress opposed UAPA, 370. I have no hesitation that Rahul Gandhi's statement is lauded by Pakistan and used by Pakistan in their UN petition. They should be ashamed.”
