The Akashteer program will allow the army to monitor low-level airspace over battlegrounds and effectively operate ground-based air defence armament systems. Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) developed the project, which aims to considerably improve the operational efficiency and integration of the Army's air defence mechanisms.

According to sources, the Army has begun implementing control and reporting systems under 'Project Akashdeep' to strengthen its air defense capabilities. On Thursday, the first batch of control centers from BEL Ghaziabad was flagged off, marking the start of system deployment.

The automated air defense control and reporting system will enable the army's air defense units to work together more effectively. The Indian Army's Corps of Army Air Defense has begun inducting new systems to improve defense capabilities and technology absorption.

The defense ministry signed a ₹1,982-crore contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) about a year ago to improve the army's air defense capabilities with the new system.

What is the Akashteer Project:
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) developed the project, which aims to considerably improve the operational effectiveness and integration of the Army's air defense mechanisms.

The Akashteer Project is an advanced initiative designed to automate air defense command as well as reporting processes by transforming the entire process.

This project, developed by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat program, aims to improve the effectiveness and integration of the Army's air defense measures.

According to the source, the induction of Akashteer Control Centers will fulfill the current and future requirements of complicated air defense operations, with 2024 designated as the 'Year of Tech Absorption'.

'Akashteer' integrates radar and communication technologies to create a cohesive network, providing remarkable situational awareness and control. This will allow for faster engagement of hostile targets, lower the risk of violence, and assure the safety of friendly aircraft in contested airspace.

The Army has achieved a significant milestone by implementing 'Akashteer' control centers to address the complicated air defense operations of today and the future.
