Subramanian Swamy has said that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi would lose their citizenship soon.

Bengaluru: Not for nothing is BJP senior leader and RS MP Subramanian Swamy a nemesis for Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi.

While he has dragged them to the court over the National Herald case and they are yet to digest that ignominy, Swamy has again targeted them.

This time, it is about the citizenship about the mother-son duo.

In this regard, he said, “The file is on the Home Minister Amit Shah’s table and soon they will lose their citizenship.”

The senior leader also referred the Indian Constitution to drive home the point that Indian citizens who take the citizenship of other countries will lose Indian citizenship automatically.

He said, “People taking the citizenship of another country while being an Indian citizen will automatically lose their Indian citizenship.”

But Swamy added that Gandhi can apply for new citizenship.

In this regard, he said, “Gandhi can apply for an Indian citizenship as his father (Rajiv Gandhi) was an Indian. But, the Congress leader cannot apply using his mother, Sonia Gandhi's credentials who he claimed was not an Indian national.”

Interestingly, another popular website adds that the MHA sent a notice to Rahul Gandhi, the then President of the Congress over the controversy surrounding his citizenship, a few years ago.

The ministry had also put out documents of the British company BackOps where Rahul Gandhi had filed his returns as a British citizen.

Again, it was Subramanian Swamy who had a filed a complaint in this regard with the Union home ministry.

The website also adds that in the year 2015, a lawyer going by the name ML Sharma had also approached the top court seeking an enquiry into the citizenship controversy of Rahul Gandhi, but the top court had dismissed it.

The tall leader also said CAA was being misunderstood.

“Indian Muslims are no way affected with this Act and it was ridiculous to argue that Muslims coming from Pakistan and Bangladesh should be considered for citizenship.”
