Vijayawada: The excise department of Andhra Pradesh has issued operational guidelines to run retail liquor outlets for the Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Ltd (APSBCL). The state government has decided to run 3,500 liquor stores from 10am to 9pm.
The guidelines read, the number of outlets per corporation, municipality and mandals, would be fixed by the commissioner of excise and prohibition.
It also said that there should be five staff members in the retail liquor outlets in urban areas and in rural areas there should be four. The staff will include a shop supervisor, two or three salesmen and one watchman.
Reports said the supervisor would be paid Rs 17,500 a month, and the salesperson would get Rs 15,000 per month. They would also be eligible for Provident Fund (PF) and Employee’s State Insurance (ESI).
Only the candidates who are a native of the mandal/local body in which the shop is located would be hired for the staff's post.
They would be appointed on contract or outsourcing basis for one year.
Location of the shop based on lowest quotations and on the selection of manpower would be decided by the two district-level panels, with the respective joint collector as its chairman and members from the excise and prohibition department as members.
Meanwhile, another panel has been constituted to fix transportation charges for the stock.
