The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is one of the most difficult exams in the country, with millions of aspirants working hard to achieve their goal of clearing it. However, only a few can clear it on their first try. One breakthrough has been made by artificial intelligence in the field of UPSC CSE. An India-made AI application named PadhAI has crafted history by clearing the UPSC preliminary exam with top scores and remarkable accuracy and speed. It serves as a reminder of the boundless potential of AI in tackling complex, knowledge-based assessments.

The AI application is developed by a group of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) students. Its potential was demonstrated on Sunday in Delhi in front of education officials and media professionals. It was done shortly after the UPSC preliminary exam. The PadhAI's performance and demonstration were live-streamed on YouTube and livestream.padhai.ai for a vast audience to see and witness the AI's proficiency in real-time.

AI's performance and score

The PadhAI achieved over 170 marks out of 200, which is already significantly higher than the usual qualifying score of 100 or below. However, what impressed the masses was the time taken by the AI app to finish the exam, which was a mere 7 minutes.

The answers produced by PadhAI were compared to major AI models such as ChatGPT, Copilot, and Google. The comparison was done by using answer keys released by top coaching institutes in India.

We believe that while our event is the first of its kind, in a few years, such events will become commonplace as several educational institutions race to solve papers quickly and precisely with AIs."

Future of PadhAI in India

PadhAI is an AI-based education application that is aimed to assist UPSC aspirants with their preparation. It offers several features such as a smart previous year question (PYQ) search, news summaries, interactive answer explanations, doubt clarification, and book summaries.
