Nayantara's partner and director Vignesh Shivan took to Twitter and tagged DMK President MK Stalin and MP Kanimozhi, demanding action against Radha Ravi
Chennai: A day after Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader Radha Ravi's sexist remark on Nayantara's latest film, the DMK suspended actor-politician Radha Ravi from the party. A statement released by the DMK general secretary K Anbazhagan on Sunday said that the actor was temporarily suspended from primary membership of the party.
"Actor Radha Ravi has been temporarily suspended from the primary membership of the party and all party posts for violating party discipline and acting in a manner that brings disrepute to the party," the statement read.
Speaking to reporters at the trailer launch of the film "Kolaiyuthir Kaalam" on Saturday, Radha Ravi shamed Nayantara by making sexually charged remarks.
"Nayanthara performs as a ghost, and then she goes on to perform as Sita. Earlier, KR Vijaya would play the role of a goddess. Now, anyone can play a goddess." Radha Ravi said.
"What is the difference between a big film and a small film? If you rape a girl at once, it is a small film. But, if you rape 40 people at once, like in Pollachi, it is a big film,” Radha Ravi added.
As the speech went viral on Sunday, Nayantara's partner and director Vignesh Shivan took to Twitter and tagged DMK President MK Stalin and MP Kanimozhi stating, "Both respected leaders have voiced vociferously against Pollachi Sexual Harassment case. Please, Why don’t you take stringent action against male chauvinist, crass sexist & bully Mr Radha Ravi? Kindly acknowledge and take action."
