A highway could have blown up, army spot and destroys explosive

Jammu: The security forces on Monday foiled a major terror attempt by suspected militants. Military personnel destroyed an explosive substance in Rajouri district on Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources told MyNation, that a Road Opening Party (ROP) of the army was clearing the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway connecting twin border districts when they came across the explosive device. 

During patrolling of ROP, sources said, they found a suspected "bottle filled with a liquid material and a polybag filled with some solid material" alongside the road in Kellar Chowk on the highway in Rajouri district.

The alert soldiers informed their higher-ups about the suspected material, following which a bomb disposal squad was sent to the area.

The area was cordoned off with the help of local police team from Chingus Chatyar police post.

The bomb disposal successfully team destroyed the suspected 'Improvised Explosive Device'.

Police have started an investigation and a case in this regard has been registered.
