Rohit Sharma is an Indian cricketer and the captain of the Indian national men's cricket team in all formats. He was born on April 30, 1987, in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Rohit attended Swami Vivekanand International School and Junior College in Mumbai, as well as Our Lady of Vailankanni High School, also in Mumbai.

He comes from a modest background; his father, Gurunath Sharma, worked in a transportation company, while his mother is a homemaker. He has one brother, Vishal Sharma.

Rohit is married to Ritika Sajdeh, with whom he has a daughter named Samaira.

Rohit Sharma’s mother tongue is Telugu, as he was born into a Telugu family. His cricket journey began at a young age; in grade 6, he joined a local cricket club during his summer holidays. In the Under-12 tournament in 1999, he took important wickets, impressing his coach, Dinesh Lad, who encouraged him to continue practicing cricket.

Rohit made his international debut on June 23, 2007, in a one-day match against Ireland in Belfast. In 2009, he achieved an IPL hat-trick while playing for the Deccan Chargers against the Mumbai Indians in Centurion, South Africa. A devotee of Lord Ganesha, Rohit visits the Siddhivinayak temple before important tours and is also a big supporter of Real Madrid Football Club.

In 2014, Rohit Sharma scored a record-breaking 264 runs against Sri Lanka, the highest individual score in ODI history. He also holds the record for most double centuries in ODIs, achieving this feat three times.

Rohit Sharma holds the record for most 150+ scores in ODIs (8 times). He also leads in most runs in T20Is with 4,231 runs, a testament to his prowess in the shorter format.

Most T20I Matches and Sixes

Rohit Sharma has played in a total of 159 T20 matches for India, making him the player with the most appearances in international T20 cricket history. Additionally, he holds the world record for the most sixes in international T20s, having hit an impressive 205 sixes.

Rohit Sharma has scored five centuries in international T20 cricket, tying with Glenn Maxwell for the most centuries in this format. Furthermore, he is the only batsman in international cricket to have hit over 600 sixes, boasting an impressive total of 623.
