Priority to women and child safety

If a woman is travelling alone with her child, she should not be deboarded at night under any circumstances. Her safety should be entrusted to either the security guard at the station or the railway staff. This is a strict rule implemented by Indian Railways for the safety of women and children.

Missed the train?

Couldn't board the train at your designated station? No worries. You can board the same train from the next two stations. Instead of panicking, you can take another vehicle, car, or bike from the station, or seek help from someone who dropped you off, to reach the next station and catch the train.

Luggage Limit

Indian Railways has a specific rule regarding the amount of luggage or belongings one can carry. According to this rule, a person cannot carry luggage weighing more than 70 kg on a train. However, currently, people carry four bags each. This is actually against Indian Railways regulations. There is a chance that the railway staff may fine you. Therefore, it is best not to carry unnecessary luggage while travelling by train.

Middle berth rule

Are you aware of the Indian Railways Middle Berth Rule? If not, then you must know about this rule in Indian Railways regarding the middle berth. The middle berth usually slides back, and passengers sit leaning against it. But what happens when the person who booked that berth wants to sleep? There's a rule for this. That is, you can sleep on the middle berth from 10 pm to 6 am. This means you are not allowed to lie down on the middle berth after 6 am. If anyone questions, you have to get up and sit.

Loudspeaker usage

There is another important rule in Indian Railways. You should not listen to songs or talk on your phone using the loudspeaker. This rule has been implemented because loud audio or video after 10 pm can cause inconvenience to other passengers. If someone is bothering you like this while you are travelling, you can warn them or seek TTE's help.

No charging more than MRP

Vendors selling food items and goods at the station should not charge more than the MRP. Doing so is considered unfair and railway officials also impose fines on them. Therefore, if you face such a situation, you can immediately complain to the railway staff.
