Aadhaar Card
Aadhaar card is an essential identity document for citizens. It is required for various important tasks such as opening a bank account, getting a mobile SIM, applying for a PAN card, obtaining a driving license, and accessing government schemes.
Aadhaar Card Update
Given these circumstances, the UIDAI has recommended updating Aadhaar cards that were issued ten years ago if they haven’t been updated since. Over time, individuals may have changed addresses, mobile numbers, and even physical appearance, which means their Aadhaar records may not reflect these changes.
Additionally, variations in fingerprints could cause issues at ration shops, banks, or when obtaining a new SIM card. To prevent such complications, the Aadhaar Authority advises that Aadhaar cards be updated every decade.
Aadhaar Card Update
Aadhaar updates can be completed by September 14. After this date, the UIDAI has announced that a fee of Rs 50 will be charged for updating the card. As a result, there has been a surge of people visiting e-service centers and Aadhaar centers, with approximately 55 lakh updates processed in the past 10 days alone.
However, it is important to clarify that the September 14 deadline is not the last date for updating Aadhaar. Updates can be made later but with an additional fee.
Aadhaar Card
Officials from the department have stated that while it is advisable to update your Aadhaar card every 10 years, the card will remain active and usable even if it is not updated. They also clarified that the notion that Aadhaar must be updated by September 14 is false. A fee has been established for all Aadhaar services, except for new Aadhaar registrations.
Aadhaar Free Service
As per the guidelines, a fee of Rs. 50 is required at the Aadhaar center for updating photos, fingerprints, iris registration, address changes, and corrections to name or date of birth. However, if individuals update their address directly through the Aadhaar website, there is no fee until September 14. This clarification was issued to address any misunderstandings regarding the fees.
