Here are five popular writers and poets that changed the world with the powerful feminist voices. The list also features their famous works that everyone must include in their reading list.

Virginia Woolf (1882-1941)

Best known for Mrs Dalloway (1925), A Room of One’s Own (1929), To the Lighthouse (1927), The Waves (1931), The Voyage Out (1915). She explores themes of gender, identity, and women’s rights. 

Kamala Das (1934-2009)


She was an Indian poet and author who wrote in English and Malayalam. Her popular poems include An Introduction, The Looking Glass, Words, The Freaks, The Old Playhouse, Relationship and more. 

bell hooks (1952-2021)

Best known for All About Love: New Visions (1999), The will to change (2004), Teaching to transgress (1994), Feminist Theory (1984), and Feminism is for Everybody (2000). 

Simone de Beauvoir (1908-1986)


She was a French writer and feminist activist. Her famous works include The Second Sex (1949), The Woman Destroyed (1967), The Coming of Age (1970), Memoirs of a Dutiful Daughter (1958), and many more. 
 


Arundhati Roy (Born 1961)


Arundhati Roy is best known for her novel ‘The God of Small Things’ in which she discusses themes of caste, gender, and social injustice. She was recently awarded with the PEN Pinter Prize for her “powerful voice.”
