Meet 5 IIT Alumni, Who Quit High-Paying Corporate Jobs to Follow Their Dreams

These five alumni of IITs secured high-paying jobs at reputed companies after completing their education. However, they eventually decided to venture into entrepreneurship to follow their dreams.

Most students aspire to secure jobs in multinational companies after completing education from top Indian institutes like IITs and IIMs. A degree from these colleges often comes with a promise of high-paying positions at reputed companies. However, there are many who graduate from IITs and IIMs, secure lucrative jobs, and after a while, choose to resign from these positions to venture into entrepreneurship. Here are five IITians who successfully established businesses of their own. 
 

Kalpit Veerwal

Kalpit Veerwal, hailing from Rajasthan, achieved AIR 1 in the JEE Main exam in 2017. He received numerous placement offers, but he chose to venture into entrepreneurship. He founded the edtech company AcadBoost Technologies in 2019. This startup aims to empower students and teachers. 
 

Priyanka Gupta

Priyanka Gupta, an alumna of IIT Kanpur, made the transition from corporate job to pursue a career as a fitness coach. In the year 2012, she launched her first successful startup called IndiaBookstore. 
 

Arunabh Sinha

Arunabh Sinha was born in Jamshedpur. He received an engineering degree from IIT Bombay. He was working at Treebo Hotels with an annual package of Rs 84 lakh. However, driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, he founded a startup called UClean in 2017. Today, the company has a turnover of Rs 170 crore. 
 

Sai Krishna Popuri

Sai Krishna Popuri graduated from IIT Delhi. He launched his millet-based products in the market in 2014. Over time, his business flourished, and today he earns Rs 2.5 crore in a year. 
 

Nitin Saluja

After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering from IIT Bombay, Nitin Saluja worked in a prominent USA-based company. However, after five years, he quit his job and founded Chaayos café in the country. Today, the company boasts a turnover of Rs 2000 crore.
