The construction of the mosque began under the reign of Maharaja Balwant Singh. The foundation of this mosque was laid on the same day as that of the Ganga temple.
Remarkably, Bharatpur Jama Masjid took 90 years to complete. History suggests that its construction began some 180 years ago.
