Dahi Vada is a popular snack and street food in North India. It’s often savoured as a delightful dessert snack. Indulging in Dahi Vada especially in the summer months is particularly enjoyable. This delicious street food is prepared using urad dal, creamy yogurt, spices, and tangy chutneys. Let’s read the recipe to learn how you can prepare this delicacy at home.

Ingredients you are going need

•    1 cup urad dal soaked overnight
•    2 green chillies
•    1 inch piece of ginger
•    Salt to taste
•    Oil
•    2 cups for thick curd
•    1 teaspoon of cumin powder
•    1 teaspoon of red chilli powder
•    Tamarind chutney
•    Green chutney
•    Spices

Follow these steps:

Step 1- To prepare the batter, start by soaking the urad dal overnight. In the morning, grind it using a blender. Add a little water and blend until it turns into a smooth paste.

Step 2- Next, heat oil in a deep-frying pan. Take small portions of the batter, form little balls and fry them in hot oil. Fry until they turn golden brown and crisp. Remove them from the oil and soak the excess oil using paper towels.

Step 3- After frying, soak the vadas in a bowl of lukewarm water for about 20-30 minutes.

Step 4- Once soaked, gently squeeze out the excess water from the vadas. Refrigerate them for a while to enhance their taste. Then, place them neatly on a serving plate.

Step 5- Beat the thick curd until smooth and creamy. Pour the curd over the vadas and ensure they are completely covered.

Step 6- Then proceed to sprinkle cumin powder, red chilli powder, and salt on top of the vadas. Add tamarind chutney and green chutney.

Step 7- As per your preference, you can also consider sprinkling some coriander and chaat masala. However, this is not a necessary step.

Enjoy! Your Dahi Vada is ready to be served.
