Common salt is easily available in the markets and is an affordable option as compared to organic salt. If you want to find out which one of them is better for consumption, then keep on reading.

Households and commercial kitchens typically use common salt, also known as table salt or refined salt. This kind of salt is produced in large quantities and is often easily available in the markets. On the contrary, organic salt is produced in limited quantities as it involves a rigorous making process.

How are the salts made?

Common salt is produced through industrial processes involving mining rock salt deposits or extracting salt from brine through evaporation methods. These methods produce sodium chloride as the final product, which is then refined into table salt.

Organic salt is made from rock salt and is prepared by blending spices like cumin, coriander, garlic, ginger, moringa leaves, fenugreek, and asafoetida (hing). These ingredients not only enhance the flavour of the salt, but they also increase the nutritional value of it.

Nutritional value

The fine texture of common salt makes it versatile for cooking purposes. It can be used for any savoury dish comfortably. Refined salt is enriched with iodine, which helps in promoting and maintaining thyroid health.

Organic salt is a rich source of fibre and antioxidants, making it a preferred choice of health-conscious people. You can consider including it in your diet for boosting your immune system.

Which one to choose?

Common salt is readily available and is budget-friendly, making it a convenient option for everyday use.

Make the choice based on your personal preferences. Both types of salt can provide sufficient nutritional value if consumed in the right amount.
