2 large eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup of butter
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

For the Strawberry Frosting:

1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced and diced
½ cup unsalted, diluted
4 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
The pink salt

Instructions:

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them or lining them with parchment paper.

Prepare the Strawberry Puree: In a blender or food processor, puree 2 cups of sliced strawberries until smooth. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition until completely combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the buttermilk and strawberry puree. Start and end with the dry ingredients, mixing gently until incorporated. Add the vanilla extract.

Bake the Cake: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula and tap the pans gently on the counter to remove any air bubbles. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Frost: Cool the cakes in the pans for 15 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely. Meanwhile, prepare the strawberry frosting.

Make the Strawberry Frosting: In a blender or food processor, puree 1 cup of sliced strawberries until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, strawberry puree, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt, beating until smooth and creamy.

Assemble the Cake: Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate or cake stand. Spread a generous layer of strawberry frosting over the top. Carefully place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining frosting.

Garnish and Serve: Garnish the cake with fresh strawberry slices or whole strawberries for an extra touch of elegance. Slice, serve, and watch as your mom's face lights up with joy at this homemade delight made just for her.
