Maha Shivratri is a highly esteemed Hindu festival that is widely observed with enormous excitement and happiness throughout the nation. Mahashivratri occurs on the 14th day of Krishna Paksha, or Chaturdashi Tithi, which occurs in the month of Phalguna.

It is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati embarked on their joint Dev Yatra on this night and that they were wed on this day as well. Devotees keep fast to please Lord Shiva. Married women observe the fast to maintain peace in their marriages, while unmarried women observe the fast with the intention of finding a life partner like Lord Shiva. Devotees offer different offerings to seek blessings.

In order to worship Lord Shiva on this auspicious day, devotees offer belpatra, bhang, datura, madar flower, white sandalwood, Ganga jal, and cow milk.

Therefore, these are the seven foods you can present as bhog to Lord Shiva.

1. Panchamrit:
Panchamrit Prasad is made of five specific ingredients: milk, curd, gangajal, honey, and ghee. It is believed that offering Panchamrit purifies a devotee and brings them nearer to the holy.

2. Halwa:
One can present semolina, wheat, and gram flour halwa to Lord Shiva. Add dry fruits, sugar, and milk to make it more perfect.

3. Thandai: 
Thandai is one of the favorite beverages of Lord Shiva. Devotees can make thandai with or without bhang and serve it as bhog.

4. Panjeeri:
Panjiri is the most commonly offered bhog which you can make by frying wheat flour in ghee and adding a little sugar to it.

5. Mawa Kheer:
Mawa Kheer is delicious and quick to prepare. You can add makhana, raisins, cashews, almonds and pistachios to milk and heat it until it thickens and offer it to Lord Shiva.

6. Rice Kheer:
Rice kheer is something that we make casually in our homes. To give good taste to the kheer, you can add white khoya and dry fruits in good quantity to it.

7. Fruits:
You can offer any seasonal 5 fruits like orange, apple, banana, ber, grapes etc.
