Indians love to drink tea. There is nothing more satisfying than that warm cup of chai in the morning. The very original masala chai holds a special place in the hearts of many. Today, let’s learn how to make that perfect masala chai from the comfort of your home.
Ingredients you are going to need:
• 2 cups of water
• 1 cup of milk
• 2-3 teaspoons of loose black tea leaves
• 2-3 teaspoons of sugar (or according to taste)
• 3-4 whole green cardamom
• 3-4 whole cloves
• 1-inch piece of grated ginger
• 1 cinnamon stick
Follow these steps:
Step 1- Take all the spices, that is cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves and crush them using a mortar and pestle. Make a fine or coarse powder.
Step 2- Take a pot, add water and crushed spices along with grated ginger. Bring the water to a boil over medium heat. Let it boil for about 2-3 minutes.
Step 3- Add tea leaves to the pot. Let it boil for 2-3 minutes. Allow all the ingredients to infuse well with the water.
Step 4- Proceed to add milk to the pot and mix well. Allow the chai to come to a boil.
Step 5- Once the chai comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for another 5-7 minutes.
Step 6- Add the desired amount of sugar to the tea.
Step 7- Once the tea achieves the desired colour and taste, remove it from the heat, and strain it into cups using a strainer.
