Bhindi, also known as okra or ladyfinger, is a nutritious vegetable that is widely enjoyed in Indian cuisines. Bhindi Fry is a classic dish that is both healthy and delicious. If you have never tried making this dish on your own, you can do it now. Here is a simple and easy-to-follow recipe for making Bhindi Fry at home.
Ingredients you are going to need:
• 250 grams of bhindi
• 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
• 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
• 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
• 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
• 1 teaspoon of red chilli powder
• Salt to taste
• Fresh coriander
Follow these steps:
Step 1- Wash the bhindi under running water. Trim the ends of the bhindi and slice them into thin pieces. As per your wish, you can cut them horizontally or vertically.
Step 2- Take a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Let them splutter for a few seconds.
Step 3- Add the bhindi to the pan and mix everything together. Fry the bhindi for 2-3 minutes.
Step 4- Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt to taste. Gently mix the ingredients together.
Step 5- Cook the bhindi for 15 minutes and stir occasionally. Make sure you don’t burn the bhindi.
Step 6- Once the bhindi turns tender, remove the pan from the heat. Your dish may take longer than 15 minutes to cook, keep checking the pan to ensure if it’s ready.
Step 7- If you prefer, you can also add coriander to bhindi, or you can skip this step.
Your Bhindi Fry is ready to be enjoyed. Serve with roti or white rice. Arhar dal, raita, bhindi fry, and roti are the ultimate combination. Your guests will be left amazed by your culinary skills.
