Chaitra Navratri, which begins on April 9, is a nine-day celebration worshiping Goddess Durga. Devotees follow a sattvic diet and avoid non-vegetarian foods, iron, and technology. They also avoid black clothing, rice, and sharp items to promote spiritual harmony.

Navratri is one of the most important Hindu festivals, celebrated four times a year. Chaitra Navratri is the first Navratri of the year, then comes Sharadiya Navratri. It is immediately accompanied by two Gupt Navratris.

This year, Chaitra Navratri begins on April 9 and ends on April 17, a period of nine days. During Chaitra Navratri, devotees adore Maa Durga in her nine heavenly forms. On the final day, Ram Navami is observed. It celebrates the birth of the deity Ram.

During Navratri, as with any other celebration, there are some items that should and should not be purchased.

Here are a few things you should avoid buying during Navratri:

1. Non-vegetarian food:
Devotees believe that eating a sattvic diet, which includes fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and grains, may cleanse the body and mind, aligning them with spiritual forces and improving the efficiency of fasts and prayers.

2. Black clothes:
For Hindus, black is the color of grief and negativity, and it should be avoided at all costs. Wearing or purchasing black clothing is frowned upon as it is thought to bring negative energy and hinder spiritual progress.

3. Iron:
Bringing iron into the home at this point in time is said to attract detrimental energies and disrupt spiritual harmony for the individual and their family, since iron represents heavy and negative energy.

4. Electronics:
Electronics, like iron, are associated with materialism and can be used to divert from spiritual pursuits.

5. Sharp objects:
Sharp instruments, such as knives, scissors, and needles, are considered unlucky during Navratri because they can attract accidents or bad energies. It is advised to avoid buying such things at this time.
