Who was Ramoji Rao? Founder of the world's largest film city

Ramoji Rao passed away on Saturday morning in Hyderabad, Telangana, at the age of 87. For a long time, he was suffering from heart complications and was receiving treatment at Star Hospital.

Ramoji Rao, the founder of Eenadu and Ramoji Film City, passed away on Saturday morning in Hyderabad, Telangana, at the age of 87. He was receiving treatment at Star Hospital for heart issues. He was widely recognized as a successful businessman and a movie producer.

He was born on November 16, 1936, in Pedaparupudi of Krishna District, Madras Presidency. He was the head of the Ramoji Group, which included Ramoji Film City, Eenadu newspaper, ETV network, and Usha Kiran Movies. Notably, Ramoji Film City is renowned as the world’s largest film production facility. 

 

In his film producing career, he received numerous awards and honours. Some of the prestigious honours include:

•    Padma Vibhushan- 2016
•    National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu (producer)- Nuvve Kavali (2000)
•    Filmfare Vest Film Award (Telugu)- Pratighatana (1985)
•    Filmfare Special Award- (South)- For outstanding contributions to Indian cinema (1998)
•    Filmfare Best Film Award (Telugu)- Nuvve Kavali (200)
•    He also won five Nandi awards in his lifetime.
