Smriti celebrated her Amethi win, as she walked 14kms barefoot to Mumbai’s Siddhi Vinayak Temple with her long-time friend Ekta Kapoor.

Mumbai: Days after knocking Congress ex-president Rahul Gandhi from his former bastion Amethi, BJP leader Smrithi Irani walked 14 kms barefoot to Mumbai’s Siddhi Vinayak Temple.

Smriti was accompanied by her friend Ekta Kapoor. Ekta, producer of Smrithi’s famous show ‘Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Bahu Thi,’ had shared a picture on her Instagram page yesterday (May 28) and wrote, “14km to Siddhi Vinayak ke baad ka glow.” (the glow on the face is after walking for 14kms to Siddhi Vinayak).

Irani commented on the post, “God willed it, God is kind.” Ekta replied, “You walked without your shoes, A lot of your will.”

Ekta’s Instagram stories give us the glimpses of their visit to the temple Wednesday. Ekta zooms her camera towards Irani’s feet in the video and says, “We are walking to Siddhi Vinayak and she is walking without shoes. Oh man, I cannot believe 14kms without shoes..”

In other conversation in the video Smriti talks about her bond with Ekta’s four-month-old son, he was born through surrogacy. During the chat, Ekta asks Smriti, “My son has not cried because you have held him like a pro. How are you feeling. Don’t you feel, your legs must have given up by now.”

Smriti was seated in the front seat, in the car. She turned back and said, “It was his first Siddhi Vinayak Darshan. He has turned four months. And I think we are bound for life to go do Darshan together. I’m told he is naughty( he screams) but I think I’m his favourite maasi(maternal aunt).

Last week when the Lok Sabha Elections were out, Smriti won the elections by defeating Rahul Gandhi by 55,120 votes. Ekta posted a picture of them and wrote, lyrics of the title track of Kyunki (TV show) to celebrate her victory.
