Marathi filmaker Magnesh Hadawale has directed a short film based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s childhood called "Chalo Jeete Hain" and it will be screened for the second time in Rashtrapati Bhavan today evening.
The 32-minute film, produced by Mahaveer Jain and Bhushan Kumar, was earlier screened on Tuesday for President Ram Nath Kovind. Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Mahesh Sharma, MJ Akbar, Rajyavardhan Rathore were also present for the screening.
The film, which is set in the post-independence Vadnagar city of Gujarat, portrays a boy named Narendra or Naru as the protagonist and narrates how he gets impressed by a book by Swami Vivekanand, which said “Wahi jeete hain jo doosron ke liye jeete hain(those live who wish to serve others), and goes out of the way to help a fellow student.
The film, which also had references to freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, goes on to suggest that Naru was destined to serve the nation.
A source, while talking to a leading media house, said that the short film, indirectly, captures some aspects of Modi’ life and gives out a powerful, emotional message.
Director Mangesh Hadawale, whose debut film "Tingya" won several awards, told Mid-day, "I didn't make the film to promote Modiji's policies. It is simply a story from his formative years, one that stayed with me."
The film will premiere on all Star channels on July 29 at 9 pm.
